Beyond Your Image: Pathways to Connection

This engaging 60-minute talk is designed for high school students in 2024. In a culture that very often emphasizes external achievements, we'll explore a different perspective—focusing on the how rather than the what. Instead of what you can accumulate or secure, we’ll talk about how to perceive, intend, show up, and reflect.

We'll take a closer look at social connections, questioning cultural norms that prioritize quantity over quality. Find entry points and pathways to real connective moments and authentic relationships. Being seen and known has a massive impact on our well-being.

This presentation is an honest perspective with relatable stories and accessible, developmentally appropriate tools.

Authentic Leadership Sessions

These experiential workshops build interpersonal skills and self-awareness for high school students. Sessions are tailored to the students based on their age and specific needs, and these sessions are offered as one-off programs or in a series.

Some of what we focus on in these sessions: sincerity, self-reflection, and integrity; listening well; accountability and apologizing; working with overwhelm and confusion; mindfulness fundamentals; nervous system regulation tools; knowing what you need and knowing what is a yes and a no for you; setting goals and intentions; creating culture.

Authentic Leadership Sessions are 60 minutes each and designed for up to 30 students. They are highly interactive. They are best for 11th and 12th graders.

Spring 2024 update: No more availability for programs this school year.

For the 2024-2025 school year, booking now for fall programs in both the NYC area and traveling.

Dorian is an amazing facilitator. He couples an upbeat energy with authenticity and accessibility that brings in the genuine focus of his audience. Dorian ran two hour-long seminars with a group of seniors last spring who were one-foot-out-the-door, and they were riveted! After each workshop, 10 or so students stuck around to ask more questions and connect with Dorian, and for the rest of the year I heard them quoting lines and strategies from the workshop. Dorian is also an amazing collaborator: he took time to get to know my/my institution's needs, and he fit aspects of his presentation specifically to what would work with/what was needed for my students. I can't wait to work with Dorian again! -Riley Maddox, Class Dean and Math Teacher, Urban School of San Francisco

Dorian was a pleasure to work with, both in planning and debriefing his trainings as well as during the sessions themselves. He connected brilliantly with a broad cross-section of our student body, and they seemed to really take to heart what he had to say. This is largely because Dorian shows teenagers both the respect that they deserve and the deep care and passion that they need to feel from an outside speaker in order to truly buy into a new program. -Whitney Livermore, Dean of Student Life, The Branson School

I appreciated how he talked about things almost everyone experienced and that he answered questions thoughtfully and honestly. -9th Grader

I learned more about making friends which is something I have a very hard time with. -10th Grader

Thank you for all the help you have provided our grade. -11th Grader

I wanted to reach out to tell you how much I enjoyed your presentation and that I learned a lot from it. I remember when you spoke to my class in freshman year during our orientation. I found what you said very profound. So, the moment I got home that day I sat down and wrote as much as I could remember about what you said because I thought it would be useful down the road. And you've done it again! -11th Grader
